Manchester City v Juventus Betting Tips : Match Preview
Man City’s wealthy owners are desperate for European success, a feat that has eluded the Citizens for years now. In addition to recapturing the Premier League title, manager Manuel Pellegrini has to go far in the Champions League. For all of the millions invested in the club, winning the league every other year will not be enough. Pellegrini’s job could be at risk next summer if he embarrasses in Europe, even with a league crown.
City have started their league season extremely well, racking up five wins from five games. Thus far, they have yet to concede any goals. Eliaquim Mangala and Vincent Kompany have formed a solid partnership at centre-back, leaving new signing Nicolás Otamendi to watch on from the bench.
To open group D with a match against last season’s runners-up is going to be a challenge, but City have no need to feel intimidated. Juventus have lost two and drawn one from their first three league games of the season. The Old Lady have struggled to score goals and keep the opposition out. Kompany and Mangala can keep them quiet.
Man City have looked much better in attack since adding the blistering pace of Raheem Sterling. Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne has also impressed. Entering the fray against Crystal Palace as a second-half sub, the Belgian played a number of incredible passes. The biggest concern is that Sergio Agüero is nursing a knee injury.
Juventus are struggling badly at the start of the season. In Serie A, the current champions have only seized one point from a possible three. And you do not have think too hard about why this is the case. This is not the same Juventus side that played incredibly well to make it to last year’s Champions League final.
Manager Max Allegri’s ideal first XI was dismantled over the summer, with dynamic midfielder Arturo Vidal leaving for Bayern Munich in a multimillion-pound transfer. Vidal’s exit has been compounded by the fact that midfield lynchpin and Barcelona target Paul Pogba is currently injured.
Getting by without Vidal and Pogba has made Juventus vulnerable in midfield, but then they are also struggling to score. Well, it does not help that Juventus allowed Carlos Tevez to depart for Boca Juniors in the summer. Tevez is capable of genuinely world-class displays. The new front pairing of Álvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala need much more time to gel.
After four-straight Serie A title wins, it would appear that Juventus are at risk of having a poor season. They are officially in a slump that is going to be tough to emerge from without the world-class Paul Pogba.
As a result, you should definitely consider backing Man City to win outright at 1.80 with bet365. Pellegrini is mindful that he has to deliver in Europe.
