Uruguay v South Korea Betting Preview 2010-06-26
Here come the betting previews of the Round of 16, where one against another will come out the first World Cup winner Uruguay, and the very disciplined team of South Korea.
Uruguay, had no problem qualifying out of the group, after tying with the favorite France, beating the host South Africa with 3:0 and at the end winning over Mexico with 1:0. A brilliant Diego Forlan that proved that he posses great skills over the ball, a great shot to score, a great pass to lead a team mate to the goal, and a creative thinking to start the attack for Uruguay.
South Korea on the other hand got to the second place of group B with a very pragmatic and disciplined style of play. They proved that their good placement back in 2002, when they were a host, wasn’t just because of that and Guus Hiddink’s coaching. Beating the 2004 European Champion Greece with 2:0 was a clear message that they are planning to qualify out of the group. The loss against Argentina with 1:4 was a little bit of a set back, but in a great spectacular game the South Koreans were able to finish 2:2 and advanced with 4 points.
What’s to expect from this game?
A every Latin team I expect Uruguay to take control of the field and control the ball more. They will come out with an offensive line, hoping to do well as they did in their last two games. Remaining undefeated during the first 3 games will give them an additional self-esteem to hunt down the goal. South Korea, again with a semi-defensive format will depend solely on counter attacks, counter attacks that proved effective in their first and last game.
The Betting Verdict?
Uruguay – wins @ 1.83 (Bet365.com): Remaining undefeated, against teams like France and Mexico, having a great Diego Forlan on the field are one of the key factor for Uruguay to come out victorious here. Although the Koreans have proved that their counter attacks are deadly, we have seen them do a lot of mistake against Argentina when they are under pressure.
I expect the South Americans to have no problem at all in this game, despite the stakes here and the determination of the Asian team.
