Wimbledon 2017
Wimbledon is an iconic summer event that reminds sports fans all over the world just how exciting tennis can be. This is the only grand slam tournament where the action is played out on challenging grass courts that reward fast and powerful players. This year, Wimbledon 2017 will be hosted from 3-16 July and there are certain to be many exciting outcomes.
Wimbledon Men’s Outright Betting: Murray Struggling
Andy Murray gets the most press at Wimbledon because of his British status. For years, Murray’s fans would follow his career in the hope of glory in a grand slam or the holy grail of Wimbledon. Murray eventually delivered by winning the 2012 US Open and then the 2013 Wimbledon crown.
Since then, Murray went on a cold streak in the major before capturing his second Wimbledon crown in 2016. Fans had anticipated a final against seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer, but Murray would eventually defeat Canadian player Milos Raonic.
Murray enters the 2017 Wimbledon as the defending men’s champion, but doubt is clouding his chances. This started with Murray’s loss to the relatively unknown New Zealand player Jordan Thompson at Queen’s Club 2017, with Murray then limping off a practice court with a sore hip mere days before the start of Wimbledon.

bet365 will make your winnings even bigger with their accumulator bonus. Below is the graph showing exactly how it works:
Federer the Favourite
The struggles of Murray have resulted in Wimbledon legend Federer rising to become the 3.25 favourite with bet365 to win the entire tournament. This ascendancy is also based on Federer taking it easy in 2017 by entering fewer tournaments.
Meanwhile, he won the last major he competed in at the 2017 Australian Open while also winning in Halle, which is the last tournament he entered. As a result, Federer is in excellent condition and riding a rich vein of form. He is going to be a favourite among many punters in Wimbledon betting markets.
A Trio of Male Contenders
The odds are much tighter among the next three contenders, with bet365 installing Murray as 6.00 contender to retain his crown. Ahead the tournament, Novak Djokovic is another player whom the bookies have their doubts on.
Djokovic has won an incredible 13 grand slam singles’ titles, but his form derailed at Wimbledon 2016 and has shown no sign of returning. At 30 years old, he has five years on Federer, but the difference between the two is that Djokovic is figuring out how to play in his 30s. This has led to the Serb being made 7.00 favourite.
Rafael Nadal has re-entered the men’s scene as an intriguing prospect for Wimbledon. After winning 14 grand slams from 2005 to 2014, Nadal’s career was derailed by a series of injuries. Djokovic’s struggles are largely down to him losing form, whereas Nadal has been physically unable for perform to his proven level.
However, Nadal is back and seemingly healthy again, having won the 2017 French Open to secure his 15th grand slam title. This has been Nadal’s first title in three years and has earned him a place as the 5.00 favourite behind Federer. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that Nadal is much stronger on clay and won his last Wimbledon title in 2010.
Wimbledon Women’s Outright Betting: Kvitová’s Fairytale?
The women’s singles is also shaping up to be a hotly contested affair, albeit between two main contenders rather than four, with a host of others watching on from the background. There is some excellent potential for high odds in women’s competition.
Petra Kvitová is the favourite for many fans despite playing at less than full strength following a horrific knife in December 2016. Kvitová was slashed multiple times on her playing arm (left) in a home invasion and burglary at her apartment.
The Czech player has worked hard in her recovery and would dearly love to add a third Wimbledon singles’ title to her collection. If Kvitová were to win the tournament, then she would be a fairytale story and deliver healthy odds of6.00 for her backers.
The second top competitor is Karolína Plíšková, who has been widely tipped to make the step up to win her first grand slam singles’ title. Plíšková reached the 2016 Wimebledon semi-final and will be desperate to go a step further and reach the final. Odds of 6.50 make her the second favourite after Kvitová.
There are other appealing options further back in the women’s betting, and they have much higher odds for any fans who believe in their chances. The interesting prospects include Simona Halep (13.00), Johanna Konta (13.00), Angelique Kerber (15.00), Garbiñe Muguruza (15.00), and Venus Williams (15.00).
